私と歌との出会いは、高校1年の夏。 友人の家で隣の部屋から聞こえた、「トスカ」を歌うマリア・カラスの声でした。
その場で、「私これになる！」と決めたのです。なんとも大胆ですよね！ あの時から今日まで、歌一筋で来てしまいました。
カラスならぬ、すずめ位には成れたでしょうか？（ハハハ…） オペラと歌曲。芸術の集大成であるオペラ、各国の人々の匂いがする歌曲。
どちらも大切で、大好きです。 オペラで私の演じる役は、メゾ・ソプラノという声の性質上、おばあさん、魔女、山姥、祈祷師、化け物。
かわいいお姫様は、残念ながらありません。 だいぶ前の話ですが、「かぐや姫」の出演依頼があり、姫は十二単を着るとのお話。
ニコニコ顔で事務所へ行きましたら、「おおな」の役でした。フフフ…　やっぱり！！ でも、私はこの、「主役の邪魔をすることなく、
でもしっかりと存在して脇を固める役」が大好きなんです。 また、歌曲も、日本はもちろん、イタリア、ドイツ、スペイン、ロシアの曲を
多く歌っています。どの国の曲も、その国の特徴があって、歴史などと共に、とても興味深く、作曲家や作詞家が暮らした時代の景色や、
暮らし、想いが伝わってくるような、そんな歌を歌いたいと思っています。 私の歌が、聴いてくださる皆様のひと時の清涼剤になれれば
幸せです。 2年くらい前でした。友人から、彼女の知り合いの方のお母様がベッドから起きる事が出来ないのだけれど、
歌がとてもお好きなので、お誕生日に歌をプレゼントしたい。という素敵なお話を聞き、そのお宅のリビングルームに電気ピアノを
持ち込んで、歌わせていただきました。お母様はベッドの背を上げて、優しいお顔で、拍手を送ってくださいました。
お母様を始め、聴いてくださったご家族、お友達の楽しんで下さったご様子に接し、私もとても幸せになりました。
人間大好きの私は、歌うことを仕事にして、本当によかったと思います。多くの人と出会えて、聴いてくださった方々も、
私も幸せな気持ちになれて。

Welcome to my site / NAOKO SUNAGA　Mezzo soprano
I was at the first grade of high school when I was greatly impressed by a song. It was an aria in Tosca which was sung by Maria Callas　Upon hearing her song, I immediately made up my mind to become a singer like Maria Callas. How bold I was! Since then, I have concentrated on studying vocal music and I hope that I can sing as good as Maria Callas by now. I like both Opera and classical song. While opera is the masterpiece of art, classical song often originates from folk’s culture. Since my voice is mezzo soprano, I always play the part of grandmother, witch, prayer or, monster in opera performance. To my regret, I have no opportunity of playing the part of charming princess. When I was requested to participate in performing the opera “KAGUYAHIME” I was delighted that I would play the part of princes who will wear the beautiful Kimono but my role was “old lady”. I was a little disappointed/ I, however, like to play subordinate parts which are the important factor to lead the opera to a success. I am skillful in singing not only Japanese songs but also songs of Italy, Germany, Spain & Russia. I will continue to sing such songs as representing each country’s features in which we can understand what composers and writes of lyric wanted to express. I would be most happy if my songs will be helpful in yielding my audience’s tranquil time. About two years ago, I was informed that one of my friend’s mother was suffering from a disease and was unable to get up from her bed. Since she loves listening to songs, my friend wanted to hold a mini concert for her in her room as a birthday present. I brought a portable electric piano in her room and song for her. It seemed that she was greatly touched and clapped her hands tenderly by raising her body against the bed. I was very happy to see that not only the sick mother, but also her family and friends enjoyed my heartily. I was a very luck person that I have been able to continue singing as my career. I would like to thank you for many people who helped me a lot in pursuing my career.
